The final trial for the Hong Kong National tag rugby squad took place on Wednesday night, with support from HKTag partners at Impact Prowear and Adidas Hong Kong.

More than 40 Hong Kong domestic tag players have come down to trial for the 20-player mixed squad heading to Australia in November this year. In just a few days, HKTag will be able to announce the final selection.

The Tag World Cup takes place 1-4 November and HKTag expects to send two teams: one open male (16-man squad of Hong Kongers based in Sydney) and one open mixed (20 players based in Hong Kong) squad. Hong Kong will be up against tough competition with more than 30 countries involved. Australia, New Zealand and the UK will be the ones to watch as play unfolds.

In this video from Wednesday’s trial, Andrew Tasker and Brett Morris, two Hong Kong tag players, and potential World Cup squad members, share their thoughts on tag rugby and the upcoming Tag World Cup.

The next big domestic tag rugby event starts Saturday 11 August, the HKTag Super League. Many of the players trying out for the Tag World Cup will be using the next three weeks as practice for the main stage in Coffs Harbour in November.
