Teams announced for Corporate Tag Rugby tournament

HKTag is delighted to announce that Deloitte, JP Morgan, Standard Chartered, and Team “Butter Beer” will be playing the inaugural HKTag Corporate Challenge tournament this spring.

The tournament takes place across six weeks, starting 24 April, at the Indian Recreational Club, So Kun Po. With the majority of teams fielding players new to tag rugby, this is a clear signal of the development of the sport in Hong Kong.

Neville Metcalfe, HKTag Chairman, says

“HKTag has always been proud to develop a diverse and supportive sporting community and it’s more evident than ever that organisations are looking for more opportunities to build mixed teams outside of the office. Tag rugby is a minimal contact and inclusive sport, that gives everyone the chance to join in. We continue to welcome players of all ages, genders and abilities – and we’re excited to see the sport grow.”

What can we expect from the tournament?

This is a five-a-side mini tag rugby tournament, where each team must field a minimum of two female players at all times. Games last 26 minutes, with a 2-minute halftime break. There is a matchday squad limit of nine players each week and each team will play each other twice. The finals take place on 29 May, with the bottom two teams playing to avoid the wooden spoon and the top two teams aiming for the trophy. Spectators are welcome – and highly encouraged!
